Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) wins the Rally Ciudad de Pozoblanco and finishes third in the overall classification of the Cup.

The Rally Ciudad de Pozoblanco, held this weekend, was the eighth and final event of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup 2023. The second edition of the single-brand cup run with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ Cup has been very exciting, as both Dani Berdomás (Grupo Breogán) and Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) reached the final event with options to take the title.

The rally, on gravel, began with a first stage which was complicated by the accumulated dust. This stage set the script for the rest of the rally, as Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) set off from the start with the clear intention of securing second place in the overall classification. To do so, he had to win the rally and Sergi Francolí had to make a mistake. Therefore, Bulacia attacked from the beginning and, in addition to setting the best time in the first special stage of the day, he did it in six others. Dani Berdomás (Breogán Group) was immediately behind in this special stage and Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció), in third position.

The first stage was replicated in the following three stages of the morning and, since Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) could not get any better time to score extra points, Dani Berdomás (Breogán Group) was already mathematically the winner of the second edition of the TGR Iberian Cup, while there were still four more stages to finish the race.

Several incidents occurred during the morning: Joan Sabater (CSM Automoció) went off road and had to abandon, Isaac Vera (Kobe Motor), who was making his comeback in this rally, could not finish it due to a mechanical problem, and Javi Villa (Asturhíbrido), despite continuing the rally after a rollover, lost any chance of fighting for the top positions, although this does not overshadow a good season in his debut in this motorsport specialty.

Alberto Monarri (IPPON Motor Vallés), very consistent throughout the rally, finally finished fourth, a position that has allowed him to move into the same position in the overall classification of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, 5 points ahead of Javi Villa (Asturhíbrido), who finally finished fifth.

Pedro Lago (Toyota Caetano Auto), the only Portuguese driver registered in Pozoblanco, was in fifth position from the first stages and remained so until the end of the rally, to score important points, although insufficient to overtake Ricardo Costa (Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing), absent in this test, in the overall classification of the Cup. Both drivers were only three points apart. José Mulero (Labasa) was just behind Pedro Lago (Toyota Caetano Auto), finishing sixth in the rally and eighth in the overall classification.

The classification of the Rally Ciudad de Pozoblanco was closed by Albert Llovera (Grupo La Grajera), in seventh position, which was enough to win the title of best Senior driver (over 54 years old).

After the 93 timed kilometers, entirely on gravel, Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) achieved his second victory of the season with the GR Yaris, which helped him keep the third place in the overall classification and reaffirmed his position as the best Junior driver (under 24 years old). The podium was completed by Dani Berdomás (Breogán Group) and Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció).

At the end of the rally, the official end-of-season gala and the awards ceremony for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, the single-brand cup organized by Toyota Spain, Toyota Caetano Portugal and MSI, took place.
